Migos may not be understood by the entire music world, but the group is definitely showing growth as artists. Now that the trio’s rap career is firmly planted in the rap game, the Gwinnett County natives are pushing their record label YRN tha Label down our throats. This week, Offset released a new music video for “Ask Somebody” featuring Migos’ protégé, Mango Foo.
In the Fly Vision-directed video, Mango and Offset find themselves inside in a place where the cash is plentiful — and the possibilities are endless. Fans were first properly introduced to Mango Foo on Migos 2015 Migos Lingo, a compilation mixtape that introduced the YRN tha Label artists Migo Bands and Mingo Domingo.
Mango Foo seems to be the most promising of the signees. The Northside rep displayed his hunger and potential by making three cuts on Migo Lingo with “WTF Wrong,” “Can’t Talk To Me,” and “Go Get Em.” The grittiness displayed on “Go Get’ Em” is a throwback to his days of riding in the box Chevy (a Southern thing) with the homies, blowin’ loud, trapping and flirting with women.
Meanwhile, Migos have yet to release their long-awaited CULTURE album, but Quavo has been releasing solo songs and guest features. His most recent are “Shine,” “Trapstar,” and his hard-hitting verses on T.I.’s “Black Man,” Meek Mill’s “The Difference,” and “Floor Seats” with Gucci Mane.
