Let’s be honest for a second, shall we? Missy Elliott won the Super Bowl and ever since gracing the stage with Katy Perry, the out-of-the-box musician has been on the receiving end of much deserved respect and appreciation.
Missy dialed into Sway in the Morning Thursday (Feb. 5) to talk about her now legendary performance during the halftime show and the preparation leading up to it.
“I’ve been performing for 20 something years, and I have never experienced such anxiety,” the Virginia native said. “The day of the show I prayed all the way up to the stage. I went in praying.”
Missy told Sway she assumed she would be performing with Katy Perry since they have a record together, but Katy insisted Missy perform her hits. Humbled, Missy obliged.
“I’ve cried. I’ve cried and I’ve cried,” Missy said with what sounding like a huge smile on her face. “They were all tears of joy.”
Since then 43-year-old entertainer has been offered to go on multiple tours. Sway and the team even joked Missy is now a new artist who may make XXL’s freshman cover.
