The gun violence in Chicago, Ill. is still rocking the nation with alarming injury and death records, but a couple of documentarians are taking a deeper look into its causes with a little promotion from one of rap’s legends.
Nas recently spoke with Revolt on commending fellow people and Hip Hop artists who are striving to make a positive change in Chi-town and the role he played in the process of putting together the film. “Chicago is speaking where other people ain’t talking [and] they’re talking for themselves, giving us what’s going on,” the “One Mic” emcee said. “If it wasn’t for the rap artists, the whole country would not know the state of emergency that’s going on in the hood out here. So thank god we’ve got rappers from Chicago enlightening the whole world about what’s happening, because nobody else wants to talk about it.”
Produced by Rahman Dukes and Keith Clinkscales, check out a preview of the reel below.
