Nelly’s arrest over the weekend may have cost him a gig. The rapper was scheduled to perform at Missouri State University on Apr. 23, but the show has been cancelled. The university announced its decision yesterday (Apr. 15).
While there was no reason given for the show’s cancellation, but the change comes days after the rapper was arrested in Tallahassee. During a search of Nelly’s tour bus, police found marijuana, meth and several handguns. While his lawyer claims he “will not be associated with the contraband that was allegedly discovered.”

Nelly points to the presence of 15 to 20 other people on the bus as the reason for why the drugs were on board. In a statement to TMZ, he took responsibility, while vowing not to let the company he keeps get in the way of his credibility.
“I feel the need to take responsibility for my choices in needing to be more aware of all the people I associate with and allow onto my property,” he said. “While my instinct of course, is to be accessible to my friends, fans and acquaintances, the last thing I would want to do is compromise the respect and admiration of my friends, family and fans.”
