
Fans have been locked in to BET’s The New Edition Story this week, as the show follows the story of five kids from Boston (Ricky Bell, Bobby Brown, Ralph Tresvant, Ronnie DeVoe and Michael Bivins), which went on to become one of the iconic pioneers of the boy-band movement in the early ’80s. The reunion has set social media on fire this week and ratings are in for the premiere, which definitely brought a smile to the network’s face.

The debut episode reeled in 4.4 million viewers, making the Tuesday (Jan. 24) show BET’s highest rated premiere in over five years. Two-and-a-half million viewers hit the 18-49 demographic, which adds up to a respectable 1.44 rating on the night, outdoing all of its competitors on cable. The Jesse Collins executive produced mini-series ends Thursday night (Jan. 26) with the third and final episode airing from 9-11 p.m. EST on BET.
