For Trayvon Martin by Gina Loring from Bird Films on Vimeo.
Although George Zimmerman is technically a free man and Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton have buried their 17-year-old son, Trayvon Martin cannot be forgotten. Poet and vocalist Gina Loring (HBO’s Def Poetry, BET’s Lyric Cafe, TVOne’s Verses and Flow) is honoring the memory of the slain teen in her new song “For Trayvon Martin.” The video is a montage of various notable supporters such as De la Soul’s “Pos”, Vagina Monologues creator Eve Ensler, “Access Hollywood” journalist Shaun Robinson, and television icon Marla Gibbs. All proceeds from the song, which is being released as a single, will be given to The Trayvon Martin Foundation. Loring is also asking the public to join in on a video campaign that will highlight what the world would’ve missed out on had certain individuals lost their lives at 17. Watch the video above, purchase the song and participate in the movement.
