Over the weekend, Nicki Minaj vowed to elaborate on her frustrations with the music industry and Travis Scott earning the number one album on the Billboard 200 for a second week in a row. And as promised, Nicki spilled the tea and then some on the latest episode of Queen Radio on Tuesday (Aug. 21). During the tell-all discussion, Minaj set the record straight on the industry’s inner-dealings and dubbed Travis Scott the “H*e N***a of the Week.”
“Travis Scott wins Hoe Nigga of the Week, by a landslide. He out here selling f**king clothes got y’all thinking he selling f**king music,” she declared. “What we’re not gonna do is have this f**king autotune man come up in here selling f**king sweaters and telling y’all he sold half a million f**king albums, ’cause he didn’t.”
Nicki was referencing a claim she made earlier, in which she stated that Scott was selling merch bundles in order to add to his total album sales. “You stupid f**k,” she continued before calling out Travis’ girlfriend Kylie Jenner, whom previously posted about his upcoming tour on Instagram. “You’re a f**king man! You got your homeboy talking for you, your girlfriend posting tour passes saying you sold albums—stop it! Knock it the f**k off!”
Minaj’s new comments come shortly after she vented on Twitter about the controversy. Minaj expressed issues with the Billboard charting system, which allowed artists to sell merch and other promotional goodies in place of pure album units. She also accused Kylie Jenner and her daughter Stormi of aiding in Scott’s second-week success. “I put my blood sweat & tears in writing a dope album only for Travis Scott to have Kylie Jenner post a tour pass telling ppl to come see her & Stormi. lol. Im actually laughing. #Queen broke the record of being number 1 in 86 countries. Thank Jesus & thank you to my fans,” she previously wrote.
Despite Nicki’s harsh words, the rapper insisted that she is not angry. By contrast, she stated that her intentions were to reveal the mistreatment many female artists face in the music business. Later on the radio show, Minaj hinted that she recorded a new song addressing everything. It’s unclear when that song will drop, but when it does, it’ll undoubtedly ruffle some feathers.
