It’s been nearly two years since Nicki dropped a new record, so when the rapper took to Twitter to announce her new project Pick My Fruit, late Saturday night (Oct. 8), the Barbs almost lost their minds. But it turns out Nicki Minaj was just trolling her fans.
Following some speculation on Twitter, the “Pinkprint Freestyle” MC took to her own social account to put the rumors to rest. “Ok u know what I wasn’t gonna say anything but damn ya got it out of me. The album drops at midnight. it’s called #PickMyFruitOut,” Nicki wrote.

Shortly after making the announcement, Nick debuted the project’s track listing that featured all songs named after fruit. “The one I’m most excited about, however, is track #10. It’s called N***a toss my fruit salad and it features my favorite rapper of all time,” she joked.

Starting to catch on, her fans began to troll with the rapper, attaching hilarious GIFS and memes in response. Some even proposed that her single, “Bananas” was a tribute to the late Harambe — the gorilla who was shot at the Cincinnati Zoo.

Midnight hit, and there was no album, but the rapper has kept busy, featuring on a number of hit projects including DJ Khaled’s Major Key album, and DJ Mustards, Cool Summer. Unfortunately, there is no telling when Nicki will be coming out with another studio album. So it’s safe to say Nicki Minaj got eem!
