Nicki Minaj added another notch onto her Barbie-approved belt as her third solo album The Pinkprint has officially gone gold. Raking in 509,000 copies, this becomes the third time the Young Money first lady has accomplished this feat – the third time in a row.
Trailing behind the sales of her previous albums (Pink Friday moved 1.93 million and Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded sold 905,000) The Pinkprint remains the most critically-acclaimed of the three. The rapstress also did a traditional release of the album, including a promotional tour and a known release date. Had Ms. Minaj decided to send her Barz into a frenzy with a surprise release, a Drake-like first week would have likely ensued.
The album also had a four-consecutive-week run atop the Billboard Rap Albums chart and is currently holding court at No. 3.
Well done, Onika.
