Two of the best from Midwest drop some lo-fi goodness as Nolan The Ninja calls on The Cool Kids’ Chuck Inglish for the new song “2 Cents.” On the second single from Nolan’s upcoming Mello Music Group debut album Sportee, Nolan and the Cool Kids co-founder trade rhymes over a gritty soundbed by 5yoT. “I’m one of a kind, the type you never find, rarity breeds, follow my seed,” Nolan spits, part of a relentless verse he uses to close out the record.
“Chuck and I met months ago and we chopped it up and eventually ended up in the studio,” Nolan told VIBE. “I was just going through joints I had & he told me to keep ‘2 Cents’ rolling. He wrote to it & we knocked it out. I remember him calling it some ‘futuristic Wu shit.”
Detroit has some of the best rappers in the world, and Nolan the Ninja earned his stripes in the city’s rap scene for years before signing a deal with Mello Music Group this fall. Sportee will include appearances by Chuck Inglish, T3 (Slum Village), Jaye Prime, Boog Brown & Charlie Smarts of Kooley High. Pre-order your copy, and listen to “2 Cents” below.
