We’ve already experienced a dance invasion by Europe with some of the industries top DJs hailing from the Netherlands and Sweden. Now a second wave of techno talent is coming from the South, starting with South America’s HIIO.
Comprised of DJ/producers Nico Hamuy (Argentina) and Ortzy (Columbia), the two as a duo come up with a heavy concoction of driving drums and euphoric progressions as seen with their international break-through “Something About You” on 4Kenzo Records. The single is almost a throwback to dance music’s early beginnings, with the soulful vocals of Terri B recalling days of Jimmy Somerville and Haddaway, their voices synchronizing perfectly with the electronic melodies.
HIIO’s sound is sure to grab at the pulsating hearts of today’s U.S. rave culture, already gathering attention and support from David Guetta, Steve Angello and past collaborator Chuckie.
