Pop star Christina Aguilera recently owned up to her nationally televised flub of our national anthem at the highest rated Superbowl in football history.
“I’ve been singing that song my entire life. I was known as the youngest anthem singer in my hometown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I sang for the Steelers, I think around the age of seven or eight. I would sing for them and then I think I had a moment where I was at the Super Bowl at 30 years old and I took in the moment too much. Shoot me for appreciating the moment, but here I am at the Super Bowl singing for a team and in front of the world and remembering what it was like to be that young and look where I’ve made it now. Then I was like “Oh! I just made myself a trivial pursuit question .” In 2011 what female singer flubbed the national anthem?
I knew some people would cut me some slack here and there but I knew that the press was gonna go in for the kill with it. Shoot me, I sang it live from start to finish, I didn’t pre-record it. I’m human, what can I say?”
