Well, now we all know where Mr. Pharrell Williams stands on the upcoming presidential election. The “Happy” singer recently paid a visit to The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where he performed his recent single “Freedom.”
Ellen might be known for getting silly with some of her celebrity guests, but she jumped right into talking politics with Pharrell during their chat. After asking the IamOther artist about his thoughts on the upcoming election, he simply replied, “It’s time for a woman to be in there.”
Aside from suggesting his endorsement for Democratic candidate, Hillary Clinton for the White House, Pharrell also went on to express his love for women.
“Women think about things in a holistic way, it’s not so individual. I’m saying I’m happy to be a man, but I love women,” he said. “The thing is, if we had somebody looking after our country that thought about things as a whole, I just feel like it just would be different.”
While he is aboard the Obama train, Skateboard P simply thinks it’s “Hillary time.” Aside from his chat with Ellen, the artist has never shied away from speaking up about his political views. His 2015 Grammys performance leaned in the political direction with his tribute to the campaign, #BlackLivesMatter. He also spoke on his political beliefs to sources like the Huffington Post and GQ Magazine.
Following his political endorsement for Clinton, Ellen led the conversation into a chat about Pharrell’s position as a judge on The Voice. The presidential elections aren’t until next year, but it’s pretty clear who Pharrell will be marking down on his ballot. Watch the conversation between Ellen and Pharrell below:
