After reports surfaced that Will.i.Am had served Pharrell with papers for using “I Am” in his brand name “I Am Other,” Skateboard P has flipped the script on Will by issuing his own lawsuit that’s apparently inspired by Dr. Seuss.
Though the Black Eyed Pea denied suing the N.E.R.D. front man on Twitter, the chart-topping “Get Lucky” producer was allegedly handed a cease and desist by Will, blocking him from using all elements of “I Am.”
TMZ got its hands on the court documents and Pharrell defends the name of his YouTube channel by saying Will is using the “I Am” is a Seussian way, even throwing in a quote from the children’s favorite “Green Eggs and Ham.”
“Sam I am
I am Sam
I am Sam
Sam I am…
In contrast, the I Am Other mark means ‘I am something else,’ leaving what that ‘else’ is to the imagination of the consumer. It certainly does not mean ‘I am Will,'” P says.
Last week, Pharrell had expressed his disappointment in the BEP producer for not confronting him in person. “I am disappointed that will, a fellow artist, would file a case against me,” he told Rolling Stone.”I am someone who likes to talk things out and, in fact, I attempted to do just that on many occasions.”
Oh, there’s no telling the places this suit will go.
