The Wall Street Journal was on hand to speak to Pharrell at the opening of his first art exhibit in Paris. Though, P didn’t actually create any of the artwork himself, he did curate works by some of his favorite artists.
“It says ‘curating by Pharrell Williams, ‘ but it should really be ‘the education of Pharrell Williams,’ because I’m just learning,” said the musician.
Street artist JR, Takashi Murakami , Mr, KAWS, Belgian sculptor Johan Creten and French performer-sculptor Prune Nourry all have works in the collection. G I R L opened Tuesday and will close June 25.
“I make no apology for my affinity for women”—Mr. Williams says he is a firm supporter of gender equality and doesn’t hesitate to speak in favor of causes he considers worthwhile. On Twitter last week, he spoke out for the Iranian youths jailed for posting a video of themselves dancing to “Happy.”
