Despite Donald Trump’s promise to “make America great again,” these days, the good ol’ USA isn’t looking too great. Pharrell Williams made a point to note the aforementioned fact after sending 45 a cease-and-desist letter recently.
According to the New York Daily News, the master producer sent the letter in response to Trump using his hit song “Happy” at a rally in Indiana over the weekend (Oct. 27), the same day that a massacre took place in Pittsburgh, Pa. at a synagogue.
“On the day of the mass murder of 11 human beings at the hands of a deranged ‘nationalist,’ you played [Williams’] song ‘Happy’ to a crowd at a political event in Indiana,” the letter reportedly reads.”There was nothing ‘happy’ about the tragedy inflicted upon our country on Saturday and no permission was granted for your use of this song for this purpose.”
Elsewhere in the letter, Skateboard P forbids Trump from using his songs in the future without his permission. Artists like Adele and Earth, Wind & Fire have also voiced their disdain with Trump using their music.
The synagogue shooting left 11 people dead, their ages ranging from 54 to 97 years old. The gunman, 46-year-old Robert Bowers, reportedly faces the death penalty for his crimes.
