U.K. songstress Alo Lee is bringing out the dark side of R&B. Based in London by way of Wyoming, the 25-year-old “R&B Taylor Swift” tries to shake the temptation on her latest record “Bad” featuring Lox Chatterbox.
“We all want things that aren’t good for us; that’s essentially what inspired me to write ‘Bad,'” she says. “I think everyone can relate to that feeling. We’re all lured in by that temptation of something untouchable – I know I am. It never seems to end well, and we know that, but we never seem to learn our lesson because that initial rush of wanting something that’s bad for you is so exhilarating. It’s a vicious cycle.”
Lee’s personal records like “Electric Blue” and “Snake” are haunting in nature but flip life’s lows into a headphone high. Her sensual vocals have even gotten a hold of Rihanna’s “BBHMM” for a funky cover that does the bad gal’s single justice.
Succumb to Alo Lee’s talent when her Twice Burned EP hits SoundClouds tomorrow on May 5.
