Ghost Beach—comprised of New Yorkers Josh Ocean (Vocals, Bass, Synths) and Eric “Doc” Mendelsohn (Guitars, Synths, MPC)—strive to reach a new level of dance music and pop, fused with tropical-grit elements.
“We just love the inventiveness of ’80s pop music,” Ghost Beach told VIBE in a recent interview and premiere of their track, “Close Enough,” which garnered nearly 200,000 Soundcloud plays since. “To us, classic ’80s pop songs pushed a lot of limits and incorporated new technologies to create pop music that was complex, yet maintained mass appeal. That fascinates us.”
The duo’s debut album, Blonde, set for release on March 4 via Nettwerk Records, kicks off with the lofty record, “On My Side.” With vocals that soar into higher realms of synth-pop, the track maintains retro dance undertones that will keep listeners on Ghost Beach’s side this 2014.
