Gina Lee can’t stop, won’t stop. Since launching her solo career in 2009, the sultry R&B songstress continues to put in work and sets her latest visual free for “Don’t Matter,” a record that shushes the critics.
“This song was inspired by my life events and the drama that can come along when elevating to higher levels and stages in life,” the Toronto-bred singer tells VIBE via e-mail. “Regardless of the opinions of others, my life goes on.”
Fun fact: the track was also penned on the subway. “I was already waiting [for a train] for over an hour because it was a holiday, but I was so into writing this song that when one finally came, I didn’t even notice and ended up missing the train. I ended up having to wait another hour-and-a-half before the next one came. Bright side is I ended up with a hit on my hands!”
“Don’t Matter” marks the first release off Gina’s upcoming EP, New York Sessions, set to roll out on Aug. 7.
