Ahead of his “Rally 4 Peace” concert in Baltimore, Prince releases a tribute to Freddie Gray and other victims of police brutality that have garnered national attention. Recorded at his Paisley Park Studios in Minnesota, the legend singer – who is responsible for all instrumentation on the track – relays his sadness and calls for justice and peace.
“Does anybody hear us pray/ For Michael Brown or Freddie Gray?/ Peace is more than the absence of war,” he sings.

The track also features vocals from singer Eryn Allen Kane, “who graciously flew in on a moment’s notice
and graced the track with her angelic presence,” according to the song’s Soundcloud description. Over Prince’s masterful guitar, accented by handclaps, Kane assists in uplifting the Maryland city, before a familiar protest chant delivers a clear message: “If there ain’t no justice, then there ain’t peace.”
“Please know that all involved in this project never take for granted the privileges we have in this country,” the song’s description concludes. “Let’s all continue to fight the good fight and confront inhumanity on every level until the day it is no longer.
