Prince‘s private estate and recording complex Paisley Park is teaming up with Minneapolis Public Schools to strengthen art education programs.
In the estate’s efforts to bring music education to kids, the recording complex, which was transformed into a museum following the singer’s death in 2016, will allow students free access. Typically costing between $46-$167.50, the all-access pass will usher young pupils into the mind and creative process of the musical genius.
“Prince constantly pushed himself to reach new heights and taught others to expect the same from themselves. He was a passionate advocate of music education and its ability to inspire children and adults alike, and we look forward to fulfilling this tenet through our work with MPS,” Paisley Park tour manager Mitch Maguire said in a statement to KARE11.
The songwriter, who attended Minneapolis Central High School, has donated to schools within his city and across the country. Starting with the FAIR School, a downtown magnet high school, the new program will begin with an institution known for integrating art into its academic curriculum. Bringing fans more than just memorable music, the “Purple Rain” singer and his estate have worked to leave a lasting impression on the country.
