Prince’s memory continues to live on thanks to the release of a never-before-heard melody, “Moonbeam Levels.” During a live listening session on ABC News Tuesday morning (Nov. 22), the track transported listeners back to the early 80s with its recognizable instrumentation.
“Moonbeam Levels” was originally intended for Prince’s 1999 album, but will find its place on the Purple One’s new album, 4Ever, which is a compilation of his greatest hits.

On Sunday (Nov. 20), the American Music Awards prized Prince’s estate with the honor of Top Soundtrack, thanks to Purple Rain‘s return to chart dominance earlier this year. His sister, Tyka Nelson, accepted the accolade with an emotional speech.
“Prince defied the odds — a black teen from Minneapolis with a goal to electrify the world, he had the courage to be different. With his vision, and God-given talent, he is still one of the world’s most respected and loved artists,” she said. “What he told me was that he wanted to be known as the world’s most prolific songwriter, and with 984 titles to his credit and counting, he has done just that.”
Other songs that’ll be available on 4Ever include “When Doves Cry,” “Raspberry Beret,” “I Would Die 4 U,” and “Nothing Compares 2 U.”
