Anonymous buyers from a recent Profiles in History auction are the new lucky owners of pieces of Prince’s iconic Purple Rain wardrobe.
“Very rarely are items from this superstar available for auction, so this creates a special event for us and for the world of collectors,” says Profiles in History President Joe Maddalena in a recent statement.
The New Romantic-style ivory silk shirt and the black-and-white motorcycle jacket that Prince wore while portraying “The Kid” in the Oscar-winning film were both sold for $96,000. The asking price for the shirt was between $3,000-$5,000. Other Prince memorabilia up for grabs and sold at the auction include his diamond & pearl necklace with paisley clasp from the “Diamonds & Pearls” music video and his over-the-knee black suede boots from his “Lovesexy”Tour.
