Producer Deputy is having one of the best year’s ever. Aside from producing Rihanna’s infectious single, “B*tch Better Have My Money,” the Brooklyn kid is stacking up production credits from some of the biggest names in music.
His resume already boasts songs from J.Cole, French Montana, Flo Rida, DJ Mustard and more. But don’t ever try to limit him to just hip-hop and R&B. Deputy has his hands in all genres of music — including Country. Yes, you read that correctly.
“Still sonically relevant but just without the same sounds that everyone uses,” explains Deputy about his sound. “I’ve always wanted to be different when it comes to production. The people that I looked up to were Neptunes and Timbaland, and their stuff has always been different. They were able to create their own lane — and that’s what I want to do.”
As for that infamous session with Rihanna, the multi-talented musician describes the session as just another night in the studio when the stars just happened to line up.
“I went into the studio with the writer Bibi Bourelly and once I played the track, Rihanna instantly went to the booth. And I think the first words she freestyled were “Bitch Better Have My Money,” Deputy explains about producing Rihanna’s smash single. He also says Kanye West popped into to discuss
