Opening the doors to summer is the hottest and latest anthem from Toronto-based producer Maxum titled, ‘Skyline’. Inspired by a recent trip to Miami, the track boasts adrenaline-pumping BPM rates and builds that make it a must-have on any beach time playlist. “I came back to Toronto after having experienced my first ever Ultra festival and was inspired to capture some of that energy into this song,” Maxum tells VIBE.
Dropping beats before he can even pop bottles, the 15-year-old rising star is still on the path to finding his own, distinct sound. “I started experimenting at 11-years-old, and now at 15 I cannot say I have a Maxum sound, but I am close.”
Though unsure of his own work, the wunderkind has gained a huge amount of support from well-established players in the genres, including Thomas Gold and Eddie Halliwell. It is with some of these top contenders that he finds influence for this music: “The biggest for me is and has been for a very long time Eric Prydz, his production quality and the energy/emotion in his songs are always inspirational to me. I also love what Alesso is doing with his music and brand. Some other mentions would be Jeremy Olander, Dubvision, and Dirty South.”
It won’t be long before we see Maxum’s name among the greats as he continues to release fresh sounds with every new single. Be sure to check out his site for exclusive material, free music and tour dates.
“My melodies are exciting and the work I am learning to do harmonically will bring some fresh new sounds this summer.”
