There’s no doubt that Bad Boy Records has left its mark on hip hop and music. Arguably, you could even say that the 90s were run by the Bad Boy crew, with Puff Daddy dancing front and center. But in case you forgot about the multi-platform company that brought along names like Lil Kim and Notorious B.I.G., Puff Daddy has announced the Bad Boy Family Reunion concert at the Barclays Center this May.
The family reunion, which is in celebration of the Notorious B.I.G.’s birthday, will include performances by Bad Boy acts, both old and new, including Faith Evans, Lil Kim, Mase, The LOX, French Montana, Total, and 112. As if that weren’t enough to handle already, the mogul also announced that the night to remember would include special appearances by Jay Z and Mary J. Blige.
While this reunion may be much needed and appreciated for the fans who played out every club record on the radio, the point of the reunion concert is to celebrate and remember what would’ve been Biggie Smalls’ 44th birthday. “This isn’t just another concert — this is hip-hop history,” Diddy said. “The Bad Boy Family includes some of the biggest names in music and songs that helped define a whole generation of music. Also, we are celebrating one of the greatest of all time – Notorious B.I.G. This will be a night to remember. I can’t wait to see you all there.”
Puffy and the gang got together for a mini reunion at the BET Awards last year in celebration of the entertainment company’s 50th anniversary. That was only a short set though. So it’s only expected that this will go above and beyond to celebrate the life and legacy of B.I.G.
The Bad Boy Family Reunion will take place on May 20, following Biggie’s birthday on the 21. Ticket prices will vary and will be up for grabs on Live Nation April 2.
