Q-Tip joined Bloomberg Politics John Heilemann for a conversation on “With All Due Respect,” which will air Monday (Nov. 28) on Bloomberg TV (5 p.m.) and MSNBC (6 p.m.). The Queens native dished out his opinion on a multitude of topics including the election and his “brother” Kanye West’s inherent hospitalization, regarding his support of Donald Trump.
“It’s difficult because I love him,” Q-Tip said. “That’s my brother, you know what I’m saying? I reached out to him and I’m hoping that we just get to talk. I just probably will leave it there because I really care about that dude. But his remarks are something that require he and I having a real serious discussion.”
Regarding his opinion of President-elect Donald Trump, the super producer answered:
“I guess we have no choice but to give him a chance, right? The platform he ran on is very scary. It’s extremely polarizing, it’s divisive, it’s not necessarily inclusive, and it’s dangerous, and it’s one that brings about an almost absolute fear. Given those kind of signifiers, I wouldn’t give someone like that a chance per se, but the actuality of the situation is he is the president and people voted for him, although I didn’t vote for him. He’s incumbent and he’s my president now.”
West is still reportedly hospitalized, according to TMZ. During his Sacramento, Calif., rant, at what turned out to be the final show of the Saint Pablo Tour, West apparently referenced Q-Tip’s comments saying, “Don’t tell me how to be me,” before leaving the stage.
Hopefully, Q-Tip and West, who collaborated on ATCQ’s We Got It From Here… Thank You 4 Your Service album cut, “The Killing Season,” can have a productive conversation and settle their differences while Ye begins his road to recovery. #PrayForKanye
