Jocelyn Savage’s family has responded to R. Kelly’s interview on CBS This Morning with Gayle King. The family stated during a press briefing on Wednesday (Mar. 6) that they were disturbed by Kelly’s comments regarding his relationship with young women and his behavior during the interview.
Jocelyn’s father, Timothy Savage said Kelly’s interview was “emotionally disturbing for all of us.” “I sit there and I want to not just pray for my daughter, but pray for Mr. Kelly to get some type of healing,” he said.
Savage’s mother also noted that Kelly’s emotional antics were just a window into the abuse her daughter and other women have allegedly endured. “What I saw on TV this morning about the way he acted when he got upset, I [can only] imagine what he does behind closed doors when he is not in [front of the] camera,” she added. “Allegedly, he has a bad temper, he’s very controlling, and when the girls don’t do something or say something that he likes, he really throws a rage and becomes physically violent.”
Jocelyn’s sister also spoke to the sea of reporters, saying that Jocelyn “would’ve called home by now” if she had not been abused and brainwashed. “I know for a fact my sister is not okay. I know for a fact R. Kelly is mentally destroying her, and I just want her home,” she said.
In addition to the Savages sharing their initial reactions, Los Angeles attorney Gerald A. Griggs stepped in to refute various claims from Kelly. “Mr. Kelly stated on Gayle King’s show that Mr. Timothy Savage provided his daughter on stage at a concert that Mr. Kelly was performing at. That is absolutely not true,” Griggs said. “[Kelly] also indicated that these parents came forward after the money stopped, I can stay here unequivocally that at no point have the Savages requested any money from Mr. Robert Sylvester Kelly,” he added.
As previously reported, R. Kelly sat down with Gayle King on CBS This Morning earlier this morning (Mar. 6) to discuss his recent arrest on 10 counts of criminal sex abuse. He denied abusing or molesting underage girls, accusing the media and the alleged victims of smearing his name for money.
Joycelyn Savage and another alleged victim, Azriel Clary, will appear on the second part of the CBS interview to share their side of the story on Thursday, Mar. 7. Watch the Savage’s press briefing above.
