According to Steve Greenberg, R. Kelly‘s attorney, Lady Gaga and other accusers of the controversial singer are using his controversy for 15 minutes of fame.
In an interview with Chicago’s WGN-9, Greenberg spoke out against the accusers and detractors of the “Pied Piper of R&B,” including the A Star Is Born actress and singer. Lady Gaga wrote a statement disavowing her work with R. Kelly for her 2013 song “Do What U Want,” and promised to take the song off of iTunes and streaming services.
“Mr. Kelly appreciates that she recognized his immense talent and collaborated with him to help her career, but finds it regrettable that she is now exploiting this controversy to try and help her in her effort to win an Oscar,” said Greenberg. “There are no underage women, there is no sex cult, it’s all some reality TV made up story. No one has ever seen any evidence of it. There are no photos of him with these women. There’s no anything.”
In response to the documentary Surviving R. Kelly, a petition urging RCA Records to drop him from their label has hit the ‘Net. Kelly’s estranged daughter Buku also spoke out against her father, labeling him a “monster.”
