Rapper Lil Durk was arrested yesterday (June 5) for illegal gun possession after police confiscated a loaded, .40-caliber handgun from his vehicle in Englewood, Chicago. The 20-year-old rapper was taken into custody at around 3 a.m. after police responded to a call regarding an armed individual on South Green Street. He now faces charges of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon.
The Chicago native, whose real name is Durk Banks, is currently a parolee after a 2011 imprisonment for another gun possession. Pleading guilty after being found with an illegal handgun, he served three months in the Vandalia Correctional Center. His recent arrested is in direct violation of his parole status, which was to conclude in July.
Banks is also an affiliate of Chief Keef’s Glory Boyz Entertainment crew. He was involved in the beef between GBE and slain Chicago teen rapper Lil’ Jojo last September. No one has been charged in the murder case, however.
Lil Durk recently signed a deal with French Montana’s Coke Boys imprint. He is expected to have a bond hearing today at Cook County Criminal Court.
