Wu-Tang affiliate Shyheim is in some serious trouble once again.
The rapper who’s been down with Wu-Tang since he was literally a child turned himself in to authorities on Wednesday after being involved in a hit-and-run accident on New Year’s Day. Shyheim was the driver of the car in which he killed a 29-year-old bakery worker.
Shyheim Franklin, Ghostface’s cousin and now 36, fatally hit Felipe Avila of Tompkinsville early in the morning after Franklin allegedly ran a red light in his car. He is said to be facing charges of leaving the scene of a fatal accident, which is a class D felony. At the time of the accident, he was out on $10,000 bail for drug possession and gun charges stemming from an April 2013 arrest.
Shyheim’s no stranger to the criminal justice system. He did more than a year in prison back in 2002 for a second degree robbery conviction, and when police raided his apartment in 2013 (guess they’re still watching the Wu), they found a revolver, five rounds of ammunition, and a stash of drugs and paraphernalia. — Max Weinstein
