No surprise here, but Rihanna really knows how to put in work. A newly released trailer for her upcoming video for “Work” with Drake hit the web this afternoon, and it’s giving all the feels of an underground, dancehall music scene.
The 30-second teaser comes in on Drake’s verse, showing the two posted up against a wall as Rihanna proceeds to dance and enjoy a big embrace from the OVO rapper. The clip sort of echoes Lauryn Hill’s video for “Turn the Lights Down Low,” as the singer and other dancers show off their moves under dim lighting. She also pays homage to her island roots, donning a Rastafarian colored dress, and tying a flag around her thigh. The ANTI artist previously stated on Ellen that she and Drake were just friends, but the video definitely seems to spice things up a bit.
Many fans were disappointed earlier this week, when Rihanna cancelled her Grammys performance and then postponed many of her tour dates. However, in the light of the new video, it’s most likely the bad gal will be back on good terms with her Navy.
The full “Work” video will premiere on Monday (Feb. 22). Check out the teaser below.
