Performing at the Grammy Awards or winning a Grammy Award can have a huge effect on an artist’s sales. But, don’t just take our word for it. Instead, check out the increased sales that artists like Rihanna, Frank Ocean, and Miguel are enjoying this week after their solid appearances at the 2013 Grammy Awards on Sunday night.
Although the song wasn’t nominated for an award at the Grammys, Rihanna performed her latest single, “Stay,” on Grammys night and has sold about 67,000 copies of the song since then, which is a 300 percent increase compared to the numbers she was doing before the Grammys. Likewise, sales of Frank Ocean’s Channel Orange have increased by 140 percent since he won several awards and performed his song, “Forrest Gump,” at the Grammys. And, Miguel moved more than 44,000 copies of “Adorn” this week after he took the Grammy stage with Wiz Khalifa on Sunday night to perform the track. And, analysts predict that those sales could increase over the course of next month or so.
Rihanna, Frank Ocean, and Miguel weren’t the only artists to get a sales bump from the Grammys, either. Just about all of the performers and Grammy winners from Sunday night, including fun., Mumford & Sons, The Black Keys, and The Lumineers, have enjoyed sales increases this week. And, they should all continue to sell well as digital retailers like iTunes and Amazon continue to use the Grammys to help promote projects. It’s just one more reason why Grammy night is so important to so many artists.
