Rihanna just got done flexing her creativity in the fashion world, launching a new collection with River Island. Now, the Bajan beauty has scored another high-profile partnership with MAC. The 25-year-old pop star is teaming up with the cosmetics titan on a series of products set to debut this year, Women’s Wear Daily reports.
Rihanna and MAC will push out four collections under the moniker RiRi [Hearts] MAC, including a signature bright red lipstick called RiRi Woo, debuting in May. A pop-up shop will also launch during the New York leg of Rihanna Diamonds tour (May 4) at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center to promote the lipstick.
“When you think of makeup, the brand that pops into your mind—for something legit—is MAC,” Rihanna told WWD. “Whatever color you want, it’s like, ‘Let’s go to MAC.’ I’ve been using MAC on tour for such a long time it was a natural fit for me. I have always loved makeup, and I always said that if I do it, I want to do it with a credible brand.”
The Rih Rih mash-up marks MAC’s first time collaborating with a celebrity on a breadth of products rather than a one-off. John Demsey, group president of Estée Lauder Cos. Inc., MAC’s parent company, calls it a “long-term” relationship.
The singer’s collection is also comprised of eye shadows, color lipsticks and false lashes, as well as a special holiday lineup. “There’s so much to choose from, and you can mix different textures with different colors and different greens in different eye shadows,” said Rihanna. “I learned so much about the detail of makeup and what makes things look different. What makes it apply different is really important. Every little detail is important.”
