Ro James is back on the scene with the official music video for his latest single, “Excuse Me.” Today (Nov. 7), the R&B singer links with VIBE to premiere the official music video for the longing track.
Directed by Grant Guratola and produced by Diktator, the visual takes a few interesting turns, switching between a crooning James’ in ambient lighting to nostalgic cuts of the love lost. With takes that depict both James’ current pain and faded love for distant memories, the remnants of his leading lady’s love seem to haunt him as he struggles to move on.
Originally released Aug. 10, the R&B ballad describes the up and downs of a shaky relationship. “My art is often inspired by my life experiences,” James reveals. “This song is about reflecting back on that relationship that made feel unsettled and still having the strength to hold your ground and move on.”
“Excuse Me” is the lead single from James’ upcoming sophomore album. Set to release early next year via ByStorm Entertainment/RCA Records, James has yet to reveal a album title or release date. While we wait for the official album announcement, check out the video for “Excuse Me” up top.
