Growing Pains star Alan Thicke’s sudden passing on Tuesday (Dec. 13), hit the world by surprise. After an outpour of support and love rolled in from fans and colleagues, Robin Thicke, the late actor’s middle son, shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram on Wednesday (Dec. 14), in memory of his father.
“My father passed away today. He was the best man I ever knew,” Robin wrote in the emotional post. “He was the best friend I ever had. Let’s all rejoice and celebrate the joy he brought to every room he was in. We love you Alan Thicke. Thank you for your love. Love your grateful son.” The “Lost Without You” singer’s sweet tribute comes shortly after Alan’s 19-year-old son, Carter Thicke, penned a similar message to his father on Instagram, remembering him as his “best friend” and a legend. “I have never known a more kind, loving, hairy, and generous person in my life and I am forever grateful for the light that this man brought to my life and so many others. You will be missed every second of every day,” he captioned an image of the father/son duo.

Robin’s ex-wife, Paula Patton also reacted to her former in-law’s death with a meaningful quote from Mother Teresa on Twitter. “Life is a struggle, accept it. Life is a tragedy, confront it. Life is an adventure, dare it. Life is luck, make it. Life is too precious, do not destroy it. Life is life, fight for it,” the message read.
