Safaree Samuels appears to be doing just fine after the break up with his famous ex, Nicki Minaj. Despite both of them having moved on with their respective lives and careers, their past relationship, which lasted for more than a decade, continued to make headlines.
The rapper/songwriter is letting bygones be bygones and sat down with Billboard’s Adelle Platon to discuss his latest single “Can’t Lie” featuring Olaf from his mixtape It Is What It Is, Vol. 2. Per the Brooklyn-born wordsmith, the track is about finally finding the one, a record Scaff Beezy said he wrote from a friend’s perspective.
Yet, when asked about his status with The Pinkprint artist, and what he thinks of her current relationship with Meek Mill, Samuels, 34, took the high road.
“Once you’re happy, that’s all that matters, you know?” Samuels said. “Nobody wants to be sad and miserable, so if you’re happy and you’re really happy, you know, God bless.”
Samuels also said if he were to ever run into the couple there would be no awkwardness on his part, just peace.
“I just wish ’em all the best. You know I don’t have an ill feeling going towards anyone. From my side, it’s nothing but love. I’m the type of guy, whether you like it or not, I’m gonna still say “hi” to you. It’s on you to where you wanna take it. I don’t have an ill will bone in my body. It’s nothing but God bless and protect the love.”
This is what we call “adulting.”
