Tapping into the climate of injustice in the U.S. and worldwide, composer, pianist and director Samora Pinderhughes is set to release his debut album, The Transformations Suite, due out Oct. 12, which takes a deeper look at the times we’re in.
The collection of songs examines resistance throughout the African diaspora by channeling different aspects of art including music, theater, and poetry. The project is broken into five phases: transformation, history, cycles, momentum (parts 1 and 2), and ascension.
Pinderhughes’ freshman record will hit Apple Music a day after his performance at the Kennedy Center, (Oct. 11) where the Black Male Re-Imagined conference about his socially conscious project will be presented to a group of invited high school students.
