At the top of 2016, Scotty ATL made our list of spittas to watch in 2016. And boy, he’s held up his end of the bargain with his tireless grind, and knack for penning lyrics that every blue-collar hustler can relate to.
And the grind continues. He’s been in the studio prepping his forthcoming album, Daily Bread. This week, the gold-grilled emcee rolls out the album’s first single with So High” featuring Jaydot Rain.
Here, Scotty rolls in and out of the KE on the Track instrumental with lines about rising from the basement to getting rap and show money. And the euphoria of accomplishing goals has him sitting on cloud nine.
Daily Bread was inspired by the loss of Scotty’s family and friends within the past year.
“The greatest rappers tell their life stories. That’s what I’m doing. I’m giving people my real life, the good, the bad and the ugly,” Scotty says via press release. “I focus on lyrics, focus on content and subject manner. I’m branding myself as a lyricist from ATL, like a T.I. or an Outkast, who can give some game on a track. I talk about both sides of the streets, meaning sometimes people can only glorify the streets but not warn about the dangers. I live that lifestyle but I’d also advise you to save money. Street but conscious. If you’re risking your life every day, make it count.”
