St. Louis native and Chicago transplant Smino has been making his rounds on SoundCloud and beyond as a promising MC to keep on your radar.
With a sound he describes as futuristic funk and soulful rap, the 25-year-old’s discography includes two extended plays (S!Ck S!Ck S!Ck and Blkjuptr) that have gardened much attention and praise. Most recently, he premiered a new song just last night during Mick Jenkins’ Quest For Love Chicago tour stop, acting as the night’s opening talent.
A homecoming of sorts in the city that has help foster his burgeoning career, Smino surprised the sold out crowd at Thalia Hall with a live performance of the brand new track produced by baile funk aficionado Sango. While the title has yet to be revealed, the track itself doesn’t disappoint, staying true to Smino’s feel good sound.
