Snoop Dogg will soon add “lifestyle specialist” to his résumé, as the rapper readies the launch of his marijuana-focused website, Merry Jane. The site, pegged to be a “crossroads of pot culture, business, politics, [and] health” will attempt to be a one-stop shop of information for smokers and non-smokers alike as it explores the drug in a variety of different sectors
Merry Jane, which was introduced by the West Coast rapper, 43, with media entrepreneur (and co-founder) Ted Chung at TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco on Monday, will do so via a host of diversely original content. Site visitors intrigued by the herb will be able to read guides that aid in the selection of the right strain of marijuana, watch a cooking show in which chefs discuss varied food and weed blends, and also hear about the first-time experiences of other smokers on a show aptly titled “Deflowered.”
“I was investing on creativity. Then it became more business. Then it was things that I liked, for example the cannabis industry,” he said.
According to Chung, the site will also focus on the financial aspect of the multi-billion dollar marijuana business in hopes of becoming the leading outlet for other retail and brand businesses involved with the substance. Snoop Dogg, who has never made a secret of his love of the green stuff, hopes that his site will help take the shame out of smoking and provide people with “an opportunity to come out of the closet and just admit they like to smoke.”
Merry Jane is expected to go live next month.
