It seems like a lot of people were none too pleased with Beyonce’s snub for an Album Of The Year win for Lemonade, including the musician’s sister Solange.
The new Grammy winner took to Twitter after the shocking upset and tweeted “wuddup frank” in reference to Frank Ocean, who chose to boycott the show this year.
She also provided fans with a link to Ocean’s Tumblr page, which goes to a post he wrote the day before this year’s ceremony (Feb. 11) about why he sat out this time around. Ocean’s post, in which he calls out Grammy producers Ken Erlich and David Wild, was about the “cultural bias” of the Grammy Awards.

“I’ve actually been tuning into CBS around this time of year for a while to see who gets the top honor,” Ocean wrote. Aside from not appearing at the ceremony this year, he also did not submit his latest album, Blonde, for consideration in any categories.
“…and you know what’s really not ‘Great TV’ guys? 1989 getting Album Of The Year over To Pimp A Butterfly. Hands down one of the most ‘faulty’ TV moments I’ve seen,” he continued. This of course references last year’s Grammy ceremony, in which front runner Kendrick Lamar lost the Album Of The Year prize to Taylor Swift.
“If you’re up for a discussion about the cultural bias and general nerve damage the show you produce suffers from, then I’m all for it,” he finished his post with. To Pimp A Butterfly won in all of the rap categories in 2016, but none of the the non-genre categories despite being one of the most critically-acclaimed albums of the year. Beyonce also faced a similar scenario this year with Lemonade.
Speaking of K. Dot, TDE co-president Terrence “Punch” Henderson tweeted that his artist was “upset” that Beyonce’s magnum opus did not take home the trophy this year.
I just spoke to kdot. He’s really up set about the Queen B not getting her album of the year trophy.
