Ariana Grande‘s “7 Rings” was met with its fair share of controversy from rappers suggesting Grande ripped off their style to bring a hip-hop flow to her Thank U, Next album. Soulja Boy, who was among the artists that claimed their credit, has offered his opinion on the “Pretty Boy Swag” interpolation.
Speaking with Billboard, Young Draco commented on the notably similar concepts between his 2010 track and the 25-year-old’s newest charting single.
“It’s devastating,” he said while speaking about the two tracks. “I just feel like she should have reached out and we could’ve did this song. She could have got a feature, know what I’m saying? She could’ve called me. We could’ve got into the studio and done something ten-times as dope, you know.”
The 28-year-old is disappointed by the lack of inclusion during the banger’s inception, however, he is not above collaborating with Grande to record what could be even hotter than the remix featuring 2 Chainz. Though the “Issa Vibe” MC previously accused Grande of stealing his pink trap house idea for her video’s concept, he hopped in the booth shortly after to lay a verse for the remake.
It’s unclear whether Grande will decide to attach a newer remix to the Thank U, Next album, but we’re down for a “7 Rings,” “Pretty Boy Swag” duo.
