Spike Lee is reportedly working on a new TV “joint.” The decorated director is reportedly developing a series inspired by rising tech genius, Chad Sanders. The new series, entitled Archer, will be a dark comedy and sociological thriller based on the life of the Brooklyn-based coding entrepreneur, Variety reports.
In the forthcoming thriller, Sanders is regarded as the “young, black Mark Zuckerberg-like protagonist,” according to Variety. The series will reportedly follow the entrepreneur’s narrative from New York to Silicon Valley, and then Berlin, chronicling Sanders as he builds his tech empire.
Sanders founded Archer Genius Management, a business development agency, in 2015. He also formerly served as the partner and head of business development at Dev Bootcamps, a coding school that was sold to Kaplan for a multi-million dollar sum. Sanders will also be credited as the executive, writer, and star of the upcoming series, Variety reports. Lee will reportedly direct the pilot episode and serve as the executive producer under his 40 Acres and A Mule Filmworks production company.
Lee is gearing up for a number of new projects. In addition to Archer, he is also reportedly working on the upcoming series, She’s Gotta Give, which is slated to debut on Netflix in Nov. 2017. Archer doesn’t have a home as of yet, but the series will reportedly be pitched to a number of networks.
