After experiencing a series of unfortunate events in May 2018, Mac Miller has found his way back to the music. Now, Miller drops his new studio album, Swimming.
Mac unveiled the 13-song tracklist and album cover earlier in July 2018. The album artwork features the rapper donning a pink suit with no shoes. He appears to be sitting in between a doorway of some sort.
Ahead of the album’s release, the Pittsburgh native dropped the freestyle “Inertia” on Aug. 1. In the video, the rapper is seen playing on the keyboard while spitting a few bars into the microphone. “Out of body, got my soul swimming/Ain’t no different good, heck, keep my toes twitching/You know Larry been fishing since he in the womb/This the scoop I’m the big dipper you the little spoon,” he raps.
Swimming serves as a follow-up to 2016’s The Divine Feminine. The album primarily focused on themes of love and the female mystique. It also referenced his relationship with then-girlfriend Ariana Grande. The two called it quits after two years however.
It will be interesting to see what issues Mac Miller tackles on this project. Swimming is now available on all streaming platforms. Listen to the new project below.
