Now, it’s full-length album time and NPR has premiered Staples’ double-disc Def Jam debut Summertime ’06. Once preying on life with a confident mix of nihilism and hopes of something better, Staples’ staple formula has worked since his show-stealing features on Odd Future projects.
Summertime ’06 plucks production from lead man, No I.D., as well as group of beatsmiths including DJ Dahi, Clams Casino and Christian Rich, who are more than capable of matching Vince’s intensity and dark sincerity on the mic.
