Swiss Beatz‘s first song from his upcoming album Poison was released to the public. Although he’s been away from the game working on his own material for quite some time, “Pistol On My Side (P.O.M.S.)” certainly doesn’t disappoint.
The aforementioned track features Lil Wayne, who is in prime form on the song thanks to his signature wit and candor. The trap-inspired ditty is paired with a beautifully played piano, which Tunechi spits over with ease.
A video for the song was released, which finds Swizz and Weezy in a dimly-lit skatepark causing all sorts of debauchery, such as lighting a piano on fire. Swizz’s adoring wife Alicia Keys is featured on the song and in the video; as the piano burns, the Here musician is tinkering away on the blacks-and-whites.
Poison is Swizz’s first solo album in 11 years; his last was 2007’s One Man Band Man. According to a recent interview with VIBE, J. Cole is serving as the LP’s executive producers.
“[Cole] came to the studio, and I played the first five tracks. He was like, ‘damn.’ Then I played him the ‘big’ sh*t,” Swizz said. “He was telling me everything I was feeling. ‘It’s going to go, but I need more of (the previous songs).’ He was the first person to say that. I could see people’s body language say it, but nobody said it. Not even people on my team.”
