T.I. has recently joined the growing number of artists to become co-owners of TIDAL, Jay Z ‘s new music streaming venture. The Atlanta native also officially has found a home with Jay’s Roc Nation for his upcoming album, Dime Trap.
The news came to no surprise, as just last week TIP announced his pop-up show in Atlanta’s Greenbriar Mall on Monday (Feb. 22) would be lived streamed on the service, as part of the company’s TIDAL X concert series.
Concrete evidence of this was found in an Instagram post, posted yesterday captioned: “Newest artist owner in the@TIDAL fam!”
In addition to this, he also released a single, “Money Talk,” from his album exclusively on the music service as well. In this new venture, T.I. joins the likes of Nicki Minaj, Beyonce, Kanye West and Rihanna, among many other coveted artists.
Dime Trap will be TIP’s first album distributed without a major label, though it will be distributed from Universal Music Group via Roc Nation. After a tumultuous past with other big names like Arista and Atlantic (he was dropped from the latter after the minimal sales of his debut I’m Serious back in 2001).
We will just have to see how the “About the Money” rapper does from now on with TIDAL. Good luck to you. Congrats, T.I.
