T-Pain and a couple of his buddies want to resurrect Atlanta’s old school party parade Freaknik.
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Pain has joined forces with Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg, Cee-Lo, Bootsy Collins, Lil Jon, Kid of Kid & Play, DJ Drama, Rick Ross, and a few other southern stars to bring the memory of Freaknik to the Cartoon Network.
The animated series is for Adult Swim’s one-hour special Freaknik: The Musical and centers on a group of friends trying to reignite the Atlanta Black college extravaganza. The aforementioned hip-hop and soul legends will lend their voices to the characters.
“Back in the ’90s, Freaknik was Atlanta’s version of the ultimate block party,” T-Pain said in a statement. “It was Mardi Gras meets spring break at your crazy cousin’s bachelor party and anything could happen. A decade later, I’m bringing it back for people like me, who didn’t get to experience it the first time around. We’ve recreated Freaknik’s vibe and energy with amazing animation, new music and an all-star cast of characters.”
