Chicago producer Lance Skiiwalker has made his solo debut on the mic in the form of “Speed,” a fluttering record that sets him apart from his new TDE family.
On May 11, the label’s acts including Kendrick Lamar tweeted Skiiwalker, hinting towards his new spot on the roster. It was officially announced on Friday (May 20) by TDE president Dave Free. “Lance Skiiiwalker is going to be such a breakthrough artist for this generation. He challenges the traditional format of today’s music, adding another layer to TDE’s unique roster,” he stated via press release.
Skiiwalker has been featured on several projects from the TDE family, including three tracks on Jay Rock’s album 90059. He was also featured on Kendrick’s untitled unmastered project, “untitled 04.”
No details have been released on a full blown project from the artist other than the name of his debut album, Introverted Intuition.
“Speed” provides two different grooves with Skiiiwalker beginning the song with a burst of static-filled energy and then a slow, groovy cool down.
